At Espresso Smith Coffee Company we believe that roasting coffee takes patience, skill, and passion for this alchemy that turns an ordinary seed into a luxurious beverage. Like a hand carved chair or a hand sewn quilt, we know that there is something extraordinary to a cup of coffee that was made by someone who cares. A coffee bean is a natural product where no two are the same. Each bag of coffee was handled a little differently, and roasted at altitude where the boiling temperature can noticeably change with a passing storm. Cup consistency can only be attained when an artisan understands the variables, and listens to what the coffee is telling him today.

The coffees we offer are created in the craftsman tradition of working with the beans, to make a cup of coffee that fits your life today and in the days to come.

Roast-master Blends
Blending coffee is an art that goes back to 1640, and the Dutch East Trading Company. What they did out of convenience, by throwing the coffee from the Mocha port in with the Java in the boat’s cargo hold, is now done to fill out the flavors in your cup, as well as to create consistency from the ever changing coffee crops.

Our blends are made for specific flavor profiles, combined with how the brewing equipment will extract those flavors in mind. With our espressos we have taken our knowledge of espresso machines to create blends that are designed for the machines that brew them.

Coffee is a crop like any other. Just like with wine, where it’s grown, the type of fruit, how it’s processed, and what the weather was like that year, all factor in to determine how the coffee will taste.
